Collagen Intensive Treatment promotes luminous complexion, rejuvenates lax skin. As we age, our cells produce less collagen, which leads to sagging skin and wrinkles. Skin laxity occurs around age 35 to 40 when the quantity and quality of the collagen begins to decline. By the age of 50 our body cells produce only 35% of the collagen. There is also less elastin production, and less glycosaminoglycans (GAG) formation.

Collagen fibers give the skin resistance to strain and traction. Collagen constitutes about 70% of skin mass; Collagen decreases about 1% per year after age 35. It may look like a small decline, but as such a major component of the skin, it will affect skin volume and its physical properties. As a result, the skin becomes thinner and more fragile with age. There is also less elastin production, and less glycosaminoglycans (GAG) formation (which keeps the skin hydrated).
